From a rental tool to an ERP with online requests

The situation

An event and equipment rental company replaces its rental software (Rentman) with Odoo 18: rental items, requests, picking and invoicing in one system – plus a website where customers request rentals at their own prices.

What we did

• Feasibility and business case analysis first: feature comparison Rentman ↔ Odoo and a three-year cost comparison.
• ~1,500 rental items in 49 categories plus customers and contacts migrated from Rentman with a Python script.
• Custom Odoo modules: shop with rental period and rental-factor pricing, non-binding request instead of checkout, B2B pricelists with VAT ID on sign-up, picking list as PDF.
